As a ball carrier, knowing how to outsmart the oncoming defender adds another layer of strategy, which makes a successful juke or spin that much more satisfying.
Player moves and collisions are also more realistic for next-gen stats, with a more impressive feel than previous releases. Madden 22’s dynamic gameplay makes its presence known through the use of ever-evolving next-gen stats that drive CPU player-controlled AI in terms of player instincts as well as situational play-calling. That’s all here again in Madden 22, but it all comes with a noticeable facelift thanks to the technology of the next generation of hardware. Each player has their favorite game mode that they come back to from year to year, with EA Sports adding new ways to play every few years. Lead the way, battle more arcade modes like Superstar KO and The Yard, or manage your career in Madden Ultimate Team. They fall for the new addition to their favorite NFL football team, whether they’re playing face-to-face against an online opponent, drafting their own roster in Franchise Mode, fighting their way to great standing in the face of the franchise. There’s a reason why so many players flock to each new version of the annual release – I’ve been a part of that loyal community since almost 2003. Let me be clear that this is not necessarily a bad thing. There’s more realistic action between the pylons for next-gen stats and better player movements, but there’s nothing in Madden 22 that screams “breath of fresh air” to me. This year’s release is truly a next generation experience.
Whereas last year, when Madden NFL 21 made its way to the PS5 and Xbox Series X months after its release on previous-generation consoles, this year’s Madden was a great time to dedicate all of the EA Sports team’s time and effort. Another year, another annoyance…or so it would seem.
